Haiti Earthquake Survivors Get Hot Meals As UNITED SIKHS AID Start Serving Langgar
Posted February 2nd, 2010 by administratorPort-au-Prince, Haiti : UNITED SIKHS' second volunteer team arrived at Port-au-Prince yesterday and started serving langgar (the Sikh tradition of serving hot meals cooked in a community kitchen) to survivors of the earthquake. Harcharan Singh and Amritpaul Singh, both from Brampton, Canada, arrived earlier this week to join the ongoing relief efforts in Haiti. The volunteers purchased food, water and supplies in two 20 feet trucks before heading to the UNITED SIKHS AID camp in Haiti.

Rabab researcher and Australian convert to Sikhism, Chris Mooney Singh, has discovered the poet in him. He will be in India this week at the invitation of the National Sahitya Akademy and would be part of a poetry performance session -a unique art which he has mastered in Singapore and is determined to spread it worldwide. Since the last many years, Singapore has seen umpteen competitions of the learners and the competent in this field. Chris will be spending a few days in Delhi and Chandigarh meeting friends and well-wishers and once again igniting the still dormant field of Rabab research and recital.

A man was polishing his new car; his 6 year old son picked up a stone & scratched on the side of the car. In anger, the furious man took his child's hand and hit it many times, not realizing he was using a wrench. At the hospital, the child lost all his fingers due to multiple fractures. When the child saw his father...with painful eyes he asked his Dad, "when will my fingers grow back?"
