The Parkash of Guru Gobind Singh Ji.

Pir Bhikhan Shah was a devout Muslim religious leader. He lived in village Thaska in District Karnal (now in Haryana). He was a Sayyid (a descendent of Hazrat Muhammed), which commands great respect among Muslims.

Every day this man of God would do Sijda (bowing) towards Mecca in West. But one day, in the cold month of Poh, he bowed with profound reverence toward the East.

His followers accosted him, and asked the reason for not bowing in the Qiblah (the direction of Mecca). The Peer replied that a beloved of Allah has been born in the East who will destroy evil and fight for truth and virtue.

This was none other than the son of Mata Gujri, Sahibzada Gobind Rai.

The Peer journeyed all the way to Patna to see the new star, which is no mean feat, considering he travelled 1000 km, all without our modern conveniences.

Once he arrived, no one wanted to let him see the newborn, since they didn't know his intentions (and everybody probably remembered the attempts to kill the baby's grandfather Guru Hargobind Ji when the latter was born).

After he was finally allowed to see the child prodigy, he placed two pots of milk before him. The Peer had a question in his mind as to whether the new prophet would favour the Hindus or the Mussalmans. The pots represented the two communities.

The child prodigy placed one hand on one pot, and the other on the other pot. This signifies that, in the Prophet's mind, Hindus and Muslims are equal. This delighted the Peer, who explained this to his followers.

Then the child wonder performed another deed. He pushed both pots. The milk from both overturned pots ran together. This signifies the new Prophet's desire to unite the warring communities into one.

Dhan Guru Gobind Singh Ji, and blessed is the man God chose to be Guru's herald.
