CCTVs for Golden Temple
AMRITSAR: Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) would install close circuit cameras on the premises of the Golden Temple besides some other Gurdwaras (Sikh Shrines) in Punjab.
In an executive meeting held in the mini-parliament of Sikhs on the premises of the SGPC headed by SGPC President Avtar Singh Makkar here, it has been decided that shortly, close circuit cameras would be installed in the entire premises of Golden Temple to enhance the security measures for the visiting devotees.
The SGPC official said that with the help of close circuit cameras, the risk of pick pocketing would become nil and it would also be helpful for the task force of the SGPC to keep eye on suspected elements who visit here with bad intentions.
The official said that the close circuit cameras would also be helpful to provide security during the visit of VVIPS in the Golden Temple particularly on the occasions of religious function when devotees in thousand come here to pay obeisance.
During the meeting, the SGPC President in a resolution passed, urged the Central Government to implement the Anand Karaj marriage act (separate marriage act for Sikhs) as it has already been approved by the Parliamentary committee.
