Official papers aren’t enough for ‘84-riot victim

Ludhiana, December 15 Official papers aren't proof of being a riot victim for Joginder Singh, a 72-year-old cancer patient living in the city since 1995. He was shot at in the face in Aligarh during the 1984 riots following assassination of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, where he was working in the deputy commissioner’s office.
'84 riots: CBI never contacted me, says key witness
NEW DELHI: A private television channel on Thursday claimed to have punctured the submission of the CBI in a local court that a witness in the 1984-riots case involving former Union Minister Jagdish Tytler was "untraceable".
The news channel claimed that it had located the witness, Jasbir Singh, in California who told the channel that the CBI had never contacted him.
"The fact that you are talking to me means that I am accessible..." a release issued by the channel quoted Singh as saying.
