More than 16 months of advocacy on behalf Sikh children bullied in New York City schools yesterday led Mayor Michael Bloomberg to announce an initiative to track, prohibit and prevent bias-based harassment among the city’s more than one million students, a Sikh Coalition spokesman said.

It's not perfect, but “we are very happy” with it, said Sundeep Singh, the Coalition’s community organizer.
