Why drinking alcohol is considered as a symbol of high society in sikh families occasions in spite of that it is prohibited in our religion?

Some times parents have sleepless nights because children don't want to have long hair according to our religion.And last their children do what ever they want.At first ,the parents feel sad and ashamed and then they agreed as how long they can force their children.
What should have been done when children do not want to listen ?

Is it right for our children to marry in other religion?
