Khatta Singh accuses Dera chief of blackmailing

Khatta Singh, a former driver of the Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, today alleged that the dera chief had been blackmailing him.

He alleged that the dera chief is using Shaminder Kaur, his niece, a sadhvi in the dera, who level allegations against him.

Addressing media persons Khatta Singh said Shaminder’s mother and her sister Sukhjit Kaur had moved a writ petition in Punjab and Haryana High Court seeking release of her daughter from the dera.

Ramandeep Singh, a warrant officer appointed by the high court conducted a raid at the dera ion September 25 to trace Shaminder.

He informed that Shaminder’s father had died and the petition was moved to the call her to attend the last rites of her father.

About the allegations, Khatta Singh added that it was the dera people, who told Shaminder to level false allegation against him that he wanted to eliminate her. She had filed an affidavit with Haryana Police in this connection.

Khatta Singh stated that he had recorded his statement against the dera chief and they were exerting pressure on him to take back his statement.

He maintained that earlier there was no restriction on sadhvies of the dera to go home, however, now Shaminder Kaur was not being allowed to go home even to attend the last rites of her father.
