Book on Guru Granth Sahib released

In an attempt to look at the Sri Guru Granth Sahib as a sacred scripture, author AC Katoch released his book named ‘Guru Granth Sahib- The Installation of the Holy Scripture’ in the Capital on Thursday.
The book presents an account of the composition of the holy book. It deals with the setting up of gurdwaras. It also includes the statements of the former President, APJ Abdul Kalam and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, when they visited Amritsar on the occasion of the 400th anniversary of the installation of the holy book.
The author has dealt with the life of the Gurus and has discussed the teachings of Guru Nanak. The last chapter of the book talks about the importance of women in Sikhism. Guru Nanak did not attach any impurity to women and advocated the equality of both the genders.
