It is situated in the city of Amritsar in Punjab. The Golden Temple is a living symbol of the spiritual and historical traditions of the Sikhs. It is a source of inspiration for all Sikhs and their chief place of pilgrimage. The temple with it&#039;s glistening gold covered exterior stands in the middle of a square tank with each side about 150m with an 18m path on all four sides. The Harimandir Sahib has entrances and doors on all four sides.&lt;/p&gt;

 <title>NRI woman killed in Amritsar</title>

 <description>&lt;p&gt; AMRITSAR: An NRI lady, who arrived in the city to pay obeisance at the Golden Temple, was killed when she fell from a rickshaw after robbers attacked her.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The incident occurred when Kalpana Walia, along with her husband Paramjit Singh Walia, was going in a rickshaw on the Lawrence road in the city on Sunday night.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;In his report to the police, her husband said two motorcycle-borne youths attacked them and tried to snatch the purse of the woman, who fell from the rickshaw during a scuffle and was declared brought dead when rushed to a hospital.&lt;/p&gt;

He is the first foreigner from a developed country during the past 17 years who received eye treatment in the hospital, claimed Dr Rohit.&lt;/p&gt;

 <title>Private publishing of birs banned </title>

District magistrate Kahan Singh Pannu today imposed prohibitory orders under Section 144 in Amritsar district to ban publication of birs of Guru Granth Sahib by private publishers.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The orders have been issued three days after the incident in which activists of the Guru Granth Sahib Satkar Committee blackened the faces of two sons of publishers Jeewan Singh Chattar Singh in public.&lt;/p&gt;
